Luby gets all the credit for this one. He found it here at a local toy show and surprised me with it a few days after Christmas. I just love all the little chairs and accessories that came with it. It is currently on a bookshelf in our office away from Sam and the cats. I wanted to do a search for it, but couldn’t find the maker anywhere on it. I would love to see the original packaging for this one. Awesome find!

I have a lot of blog reading and writing to catch up on and I don’t even know where to begin. I really appreciate the responses and e-mails from everyone. It really motivated me to to give it another go after my month off. So many new things on the blogging streets, but I won’t waste your time recycling all this exciting news as I know you all know it all already. Mmmm… OK, I can’t resist… Target is going to carry Orla Kiely starting in February! OK, I promise, just that one! I know I’ve been out of the loop, but it isn’t it SO very exciting?!?

3. I have an awesome dog named Murray, two cats named Puppy and Bigs (Bigs has nothing to do with SATC)

So, I don’t hate it. I also don’t love it. It’s a little, kinda, sorta…blue… Right? I was going for a grayish/charcoalish hue, but I guess I got cold feet at the last minute and went a little lighter than intended, but blue? Despite my Mom and Luby, I really don’t believe that dark colors will make a room smaller, so normally gray doesn’t scare me, but I think our galley style kitchen makes me second guess. Well, it’s going to stay for a while, but I’m sure it will end up white by the end of the year. In the meantime, here is round two…

Ziezo’s Jeffrey Campbell Trunk Show

One of the things I really miss about Chicago besides Bratwurst and Ikea are the unique neighborhood boutiques. There really are just a handful here in St. Louis, but one of the oldest and the first one I found when I moved here is Ziezo in the U-City Loop neighborhood. Jenna (Ziezo’s fashion aficionado) was kind enough to let me know about the upcoming Jeffrey Campbell Trunk Show. If you are not familiar with his stuff, you can check him out at Urban Outfitters and Nordstrom. I’m a little boot c-r-a-z-y at the moment, and he’s got an array of boot flavors; flats, heels and slouches with buckles, finge, peeptoe - you name it. Yummy. So, if you are in the St. Louis area try to stop by because it sounds awesome. If not, you can check out a sampling of my favorites below.

St. Louis Modernism

It’s pretty difficult to find something to be excited about in St. Louis. It seems many exhibitions, concerts, tours skip right over us and head straight to Chicago, but this month there are two events that make me feel warm and fuzzy. This weekend was the second annual Ivey-Selkirk Modernism auction. I was able to get some things for home and work. It definitely can be a hit or miss auction with the past few being misses, but this last one was finally a hit. I was so excited when a friend of mine got this awesome Hvidt sofa for his basement. It was probably my favorite piece in the auction and at about $1,000 it was way below the $2,000 estimate. So happy for him.

I hold a special place in my heart for Castelli and Columbo, but never really have a place for these pieces. I did get the yellow child’s chair for Samson and the red Kartell cart. I love the 2 piece Componibili circle pieces, but the color was a close miss for me.

I love, love, love this Knoll piece and can’t wait to have it in the house even if it will technically be in the garage waiting for resale. L-O-V-E it.

Also, currently at the Kemper until January is the Birth of the Cool exhibition. It is on my must do this week, so I will update later. For the locals this is old news, but I still haven’t made my way over there.
