Ladue Mid-Century Ranch Demolition
On a recent shopping day I stopped by a demolition sale in Ladue to find an amazing ranch being stripped and prepared for tear down.
All of these were sold for $500. Amazing panels on tracks either open the room completely or close it off to make a cozy room, but still let light in.
I love this bath tile!
We bought a couple of these fixtures for $10. One to keep and one to sell. I love the glass shade with the metal frame.
Fireplace with party pit circle seating. Copper and marble go to the ceiling.

I would have loved to have seen what a MCM-savvy design enthusiast could have done with this home. What a shame!
Do you recall where in Ladue this property was located? I used to live there before heading west and would be curious as to its location since the property is definitely atypical for the area.
That is absolutely heartbreaking!! I can’t look…
Thanks! It’s actually off Warson Rd. I am not sure of the exact street though! Sorry! It is such a shame!
Thanks for the info. I’m sure that a 5000sq ft plus monster home is being built in its place. I wish you could put some of these places on wheels and ship them out west!
Keep the great STL architecture and MCM stuff coming. Cheers.
This house is at 20 Somerset Downs, Ladue. It is my parents old house. They moved east earlier this year to assisted living and unfortunately the only offers were for tear down. From the pictures it appears all the custom made glass blown hanging light fixtures have been removed. There was also a two foot wide clam shell as a sink in the guest vanity. The house was originally designed by a student of Frank Loyd Wright (I forget his name) and was designed for a couple who relocated originally from Connecticut, hence why it is so atypical. We are all upset that it is being torn down - to make way for a pool and pool house for the neighboring house!
I could cry…where are my pills?
I went through this house and thought it was a Brady Bunch masterpiece. We also thought it would make a great house to shoot Boogie Nights II.
